DAY 3-  Butcher Block Cutting Board Wood Class - In this class we'll make a gorgeous end grain cutting board approximately 12" X 18" X 2" thick using a combination or maple and cherry wood.

An end grain cutting board is constructed with the grain oriented vertically so the end grain of the wood is visible on the top. This technique produces a hard, tough surface that is much gentler on knives, so they'll stay sharper, as well as resist cuts so it wont requiring as much maintenance over it's life compared to other cutting boards.

This class will cover the safe operation of the tools  (jointer, table saw, chop saw, radial arm saw, planer, router), basic design, construction and glue up techniques, as well as finishing and care of your finished end grain cutting board.

This is a multi-day class, as glue up must have 24 hours to cure for maximum strength.

Day One,  5:30-8:30pm: Safety topics, Cut, plane, joint, and first glue up of the cutting board.

Day Two, 5:30-8:30pm: Scrap off excess glue from first glue up, plane, cross cut into section, and Second glue up of end grain.

Day Three,  2-5pm: clean up, router, and sand completed end grain cutting board, discuss natural finishing options.

All materials and tools are included in the class.
